Raw stitch count is 110

Multiply 22 by the target width 50, then divide by the measured width 10. The exact result is 110 stitches. Valid multiples of four around it are 108 and 112. Both are two stitches away, so the documented tie rule selects the upper nearest value: 112 stitches.

112 stitches achieve about 50.91 cm

Map the chosen count back through the measured gauge: 112 × 10 ÷ 22 equals 560/11 cm, approximately 50.91 cm. Choosing the lower 108 would produce about 49.09 cm. The result table makes this width difference visible before construction adjustments are added.

Row count is exactly 210

Rows use 30 × 70 ÷ 10, which equals 210. Because 210 is already divisible by the row multiple two, lower, nearest, and upper all identify the same valid count. Mapping 210 back through the swatch returns exactly 70 cm.

Apply the pattern contract next

The nearest arithmetic result is 112 stitches and 210 rows, but it is not automatically a finished pattern. Add edge stitches, seams, shaping, or ease only according to the project instructions. If those additions sit outside the four-stitch repeat, do not silently include them in the repeat count.
